The Rice-Houston Alliance for Graduate Education and the Professoriate at the University of Houston (UH-AGEP) is accepting applications for its summer 2008 Undergraduate Research Program. The application deadline is April 3 Applications are available online at http://agep.uh.edu/forms.htm.
UH-AGEP seeks to increase the number of underrepresented minorities entering graduate school and college or university teaching in science, engineering or technology (STEM).
This program provides the opportunity for funding for undergraduates from around the country to pursue research in STEM fields with a professor or researcher on campus. It also encourages students in their professional development through seminars and workshops, mentoring and community events.
The stipend for the summer will be $4,000 for 10 weeks of full-time work.
To qualify for the summer program, an undergraduate must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. The student currently must be enrolled full-time. and be graduating with a B.S. or B.A. in fall 2008 or later. With rare exceptions, students will not be allowed to take classes or hold other jobs during the 10 weeks of the summer program.
