Special In The Know Issue Sheds Light on NSM Student FeesBy: Shannah LeDee

The College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics recently published a special edition of the In The Know newsletter, giving students a look at where their NSM student fees are going. The newsletter, “My Money…My UH,” informs students about how their fees are working for them.

For example, did you know that NSM employs more than 450 undergraduates in various part-time positions within the college, all paid from student fees? Positions include workshop facilitators, laboratory managers and facilitators, student graders, and tutoring assistants.

Or did you know that it takes an estimated $1.7 million each year to adequately support and maintain academic support services for NSM students? These services include VNET, the college’s Internet service portal; the Center for Academic Support and Assessment (CASA) for mathematics courses; WEBCT; and the Scholar Enrichment Program.
