Deadline Nears for 2008-2009 Scholarship Applications

Feb. 29 is the deadline for students to apply for NSM and NSM Alumni Association scholarships for 2008-2009. The college and the alumni association offer a number of scholarships to encourage students to pursue studies in the sciences and mathematics at the university:

 

NSMAA Scholarships

These scholarships are awarded for continuing undergraduates.

H. Gordon Davis and Bernice Davis Memorial Scholarships (NSM)

Scholarships are awarded to entering freshmen and continuing undergraduates. A minimum of $1,000 is awarded each semester.

NSM Excellence Scholarships (NSM)

Scholarships are awarded for one academic year to incoming freshmen and continuing undergraduates.

Eckhard Pfeiffer-Alumni Scholarships (NSMAA)

A $1,000 minimum per semester is awarded to entering freshmen and continuing undergraduate and graduate students.

Carolyn Farb-Alumni Scholarships (NSMAA)

Scholarships are awarded for one academic year to entering freshmen, continuing undergraduates and graduate students.


Eligible freshmen candidates must be graduating high school seniors with a state core GPA of 3.0 or higher. A recipient must enroll in and complete a minimum course load of 12 semester hours as a major in any NSM discipline and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Continuing undergraduate applicants must be in good standing at UH, be a major in NSM, have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher over all in science and math courses taken at UH and have 24 or more semester hours remaining in the degree program at the time of the award.

Eligible graduate students must be in good standing at UH, be a major in NSM, have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher over all in science math courses taken at UH and have 18 or more semester hours remaining in the degree program at the time of the scholarship award.
